ASHTONFIELD Public School only opened last year and its teachers and students have come from near and far.

Many students have already made new friends, even in class, and feel their teachers are fun.

"They make up games for everyone to play," one student said.

"That's how we make friends. We talk to others and see if we have anything in common to share with our new friends.

"We tell them funny jokes or ask them if they would like to come over to our house to play.

"We ask them if they want to be best friends."

Teachers have helped this process by using a peer support program.

Kindergarten students love playing with the buddies they met at the start of the year.

The school allows all people to join in and make friends.
